Our Commitment to Accessibility
Reissing Health Family Chiropractic strives to ensure that its digital content is accessible to all users, including those with visual, auditory, motor, and cognitive disabilities. We are actively working to conform to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 Level AA, published by the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C).
We believe that every person deserves equal access to health information and the ability to connect with our practice without barriers. Accessibility is an ongoing commitment, and we continuously review and improve our website to meet or exceed these standards.
Measures We Have Taken
We have implemented the following features and practices to support accessibility across our website:
Skip Navigation Link: A visible skip-to-main-content link appears at the top of every page, allowing keyboard users to bypass repeated navigation and jump directly to the primary content.
Keyboard Navigation: All interactive elements — menus, buttons, links, and form fields — are fully operable using a keyboard alone. Dropdown menus close on Escape, and focus is managed appropriately when modals open and close.
ARIA Labels and Roles: Icon-only buttons and links carry descriptive aria-label attributes. Navigation landmarks use aria-expanded, aria-haspopup, and aria-controls. Modal dialogs use role="dialog" with aria-modal="true".
Color Contrast: Text and interactive elements meet the WCAG 2.1 AA minimum contrast ratios of 4.5:1 for normal text and 3:1 for large text and UI components. We have audited and adjusted color values site-wide to meet these thresholds.
Descriptive Alt Text: All meaningful images include descriptive alternative text. Decorative images are marked with empty alt attributes so screen readers skip them.
Form Accessibility: All form inputs are associated with visible labels using htmlFor and id attributes. Error messages are programmatically linked to their respective fields.
Semantic HTML and Heading Hierarchy: Pages use a logical heading structure (h1 → h2 → h3) and semantic HTML5 landmarks (header, main, nav, footer, section) to support screen reader navigation.
Responsive and Mobile-Friendly Design: The website is fully responsive and functions correctly at all viewport sizes, including on mobile devices with touch interfaces.
Focus Visibility: A clearly visible focus ring is displayed on all interactive elements when navigated via keyboard, ensuring users can always identify their current position on the page.
Known Limitations
While we strive for full WCAG 2.1 AA conformance, some third-party content embedded on our website is outside our direct control. Specifically, the Google Reviews widget provided by Elfsight on our Testimonials page contains elements that do not fully meet contrast and labeling requirements. We have reported these issues to the vendor and will update this statement when a resolution is available.
We are not responsible for the accessibility of external websites linked from our pages. We encourage those sites to adopt accessible practices as well.
Standards and Conformance
This website aims to conform to WCAG 2.1 Level AA. We use automated testing tools (including axe DevTools) alongside manual keyboard and screen reader testing to identify and remediate accessibility issues on an ongoing basis.
